Biomode is an innovative company which core activities are focused on the research, development and commercialization of rapid diagnostic kits based on Peptide Nucleic Acid Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (PNA FISH) technology for microbial detection in food and clinical samples. Biomode has specialized in the design and optimization of proprietary PNA probes that ensure high specificity and stability to its products.

The company was founded in December 2010 as a result of the research work developed at the University of Minho and the University of Porto (Portugal) and received financial support from the Inovcapital ACTec venture fund (Portugal Ventures) with mentoring provided by COTEC Portugal. In 2014 Biomode was granted with a new investment fund of 1.6 million euros from its main partners – Change Partners, 2bPartner, Invicta Angels and Gegnum.

In 2016 Biomode obtained the CE marking of conformity for the product PROBE4Pylori® and in 2017 the AOAC-RI certification for the products PROBE4Salmonella®, PROBE4Monocytogenes® and PROBE4Cronobacter®.

The pipeline of products in final stage of development include: PROBE4Campylobacter®, PROBE4Vibrio® and PROBE4EcO157®.
